The Road Transport Inspection was established on 1. 7. 2025 by transforming the Centre for Road Transport Services, which has been operating since 2000 as a subordinate organisation of the Ministry of Transport.
The establishment of the Road Transport Inspection is a significant reform step to increase safety on Czech roads and motorways and to monitor compliance with the rules of fair business in road transport.

What is on the agenda of the Road Transport Inspection?
- To stop and inspect trucks, trucks, long-distance buses and other vehicles that are operated for business purposes.
- Ensure that trucks are not overloaded or oversized.
- Check the technical condition of the vehicles.
- Monitor compliance with social legislation (driving and rest periods for drivers, working conditions for drivers, correct use of tachographs).
- Monitor the transport of dangerous goods.
- Check that loads are properly secured and secured.
Powers of the Road Transport Inspection
If inspectors find a breach of legislation within the remit of the Road Transport Inspectorate, a fine or other penalty may be imposed for the offence.
As a last resort, there is also the risk of having your documents or license plate number revoked.
