The Road Transport Inspection (INSID) 7. was established on 1 July 2025 following the transformation of the Transport Service Centre (CSPSD), which had operated as a subordinate organisation to the Czech Ministry of Transport since 2000.
The establishment of a road inspection in Czechia paves the way for significant reforms designed to enhance safety on Czech roads and motorways and to prevent unfair business practices in road transport.

What falls under the remit of the Road Transport Inspection?
- Stopping and inspecting heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), coaches and other vehicles operated for commercial purposes.
- Ensuring that HGVs are not overloaded and comply with the statutory requirements on size.
- Inspecting vehicle roadworthiness.
- Monitoring compliance with social legislation (drivers’ hours, rest periods, working conditions and the proper use of tachographs).
- Monitoring the transport of dangerous goods.
- Inspecting whether loads are properly secured.
Powers of the Road Transport Inspection
If inspectors identify an infringement within the remit of the Road Transport Inspectorate, a fine or other sanction may be imposed.
As a measure of last resort, inspectors may temporarily confiscate a driving licence or seize a vehicle’s registration plates and documents.
